1:48 Wheels for Schwimmwagen „wide“ (underinflated)

Wheels for the Schwimmwagen, Firma49 1:48

A resin set of replacement wheels from the Czech manufacturer Firma49 in 1:48 scale, intended for a model of the German Schwimmwagen amphibious vehicle. This is the wide tire variant with an underinflated, sagging profile that faithfully imitates the load of the vehicle's own weight. It is not a model but a detail accessory that replaces the wheels from the basic kit.

The real subject

The Schwimmwagen was a small German amphibious car of the Second World War period, derived from the people's car concept. It was used for reconnaissance and liaison over ground and on water alike. Realistically underinflated wheels give a model the impression of the real weight of a standing vehicle.

Building tips

• Cut off the casting blocks and wash the mold release residue off the parts.
• Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue).
• Paint the tires in rubber shades and bring the tread out with dust pigments.
• The underinflated profile comes out best if you seat the wheel so that it sits on the surface.

Who the set is for

• Modelers building the Schwimmwagen in 1:48 scale.
• Detail builders who want a realistic, slightly underinflated wheel profile.

This is a resin accessory, not a complete model. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
