Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British battlecruiser HMS Hood as she was in 1941, in 1:700 scale from Flyhawk. It is the Deluxe edition, which compared with the basic version adds turned metal gun barrels and a photo-etched upgrade set right in the box. Flyhawk is known for exceptionally fine detail in its toolings, so the Deluxe package offers practically everything for a top-class model without buying anything else.
HMS Hood was a British battlecruiser of the Admiral class. For two decades she was the largest warship in the world and a symbol of British naval power — she was nicknamed the Mighty Hood. On 24 May 1941 she met the German battleship Bismarck in the Battle of the Denmark Strait; after a few salvos she was torn apart by the explosion of her magazines. Of around 1418 men of her crew only three survived. The model captures the ship in exactly this final form of 1941.
The fine parts and the photo-etched items call for patience and a sharp knife. Fit the turned metal gun barrels in place of the plastic ones for a perfect shape. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate after spraying. British ships of 1941 carried camouflage schemes — check the period reference. Emphasize the panel lines with a fine wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories beyond the contents of the box are not included, unless stated otherwise.
