Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the German battlecruiser SMS Lützow capturing her appearance in 1916. Waterline form means that the hull ends at the waterline, so that once built the model sits on the surface and suits a display base as well as a naval scene. In this scale the ship has a respectable length and offers room for fine finishing.
The Lützow belonged to the Derfflinger class, that is to the most modern German battlecruisers of the First World War. Her main armament was eight heavy guns in four twin turrets, and the ship combined strong gunnery with armor that her British counterparts lacked. She entered service shortly before the Battle of Jutland and became the flagship of the battlecruiser force. In the action at the end of May 1916 she hit the British battlecruiser Invincible decisively, but took dozens of hits herself, took water into the bow and the following night was sent to the bottom by her own torpedo boats.
Build the hull and the superstructure step by step and fill any surplus gaps with putty while you can still reach them. Paint the deck separately from the sides; masking tape will do more work here than a brush. Bring the gray finish to life with a light lightening of the horizontal surfaces and a dark wash into the detail. The railings and the mast rigging come into their own when you add fine monofilament.
The kit comes as unglued and unpainted parts. Paints, glue and add-on sets do not belong to it.
