1:72 A-7A Corsair II is a plastic kit of the first production version of the American carrier-based attack aircraft, in 1:72 scale, by Hobby Boss.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit depicts the A-7A, the first production version of the carrier-based attack aircraft Corsair II. The 1:72 scale is practical for a carrier-aircraft collection, since even with its stores spread out the model takes up a reasonable amount of space. It is made by Hobby Boss.
The Corsair II was developed in the 1960s as a subsonic attack aircraft for the US Navy, shaped after the Crusader fighter but with a shorter, sturdier fuselage. It was powered by a single non-afterburning jet engine, which gave the type long range and the ability to carry a heavy bomb load at the expense of top speed. A distinctive feature is the large air intake under the nose and the folding wingtips for carrier stowage. The A-7A version was the first delivered to the Navy and, from the late 1960s, saw combat in Southeast Asia. Later versions received a more powerful engine and more modern equipment.
Finish and paint the cockpit and the air-intake trunk before closing up the fuselage, since they become inaccessible once it is glued shut. It is best to fit the folding wingtips after painting, so they do not get snapped off. Spray the typical Navy scheme with a light underside using an airbrush, working from light areas to dark ones and keeping the transitions soft. Assemble and paint the stores and bombs separately and fit them last. Apply the squadron marking decals over a gloss coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
