A transparent replacement canopy for the last production version of the Messerschmitt. The Kurfürst already had lightened glazing with a minimum of frames, so the shape of the part differs noticeably from the earlier variants and it shows at once during the build.
The K version, nicknamed Kurfürst, got under way in the autumn of 1944 as an attempt to unify fragmented production into a single standard. The Daimler-Benz 605 D engine with injection of a methanol and water mixture gave markedly higher power in a short-duration setting than the G series. The armament consisted of a cannon firing through the propeller hub and two synchronized machine guns of thirteen millimeters caliber. The recognition features of the K-4 form are the taller wooden rudder, a retractable tailwheel and conspicuous bulges on the engine cowling. A lightened canopy with large undivided panes became the standard, which at last gave the pilot a decent view to the rear.
Glue the frame on only after the camouflage of the fuselage is finished, and do not seal the joint around its circumference with a putty that has to be sanded: dust from the sanding eats into the clear surface and you will never get it out again. An adhesive that dries dry and clean serves better and fills any gap at the same time.
The modeler gets the machine for the build separately; this is a clear accessory.
