An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Messerschmitt Bf 109F-2 Friedrich fighter in 1:72 scale from Eduard. The F version, the Friedrich, represents a markedly cleaner aerodynamic stage of development than the earlier Emil (E): it was given rounded wingtips, a tailplane with no external struts and a smoother nose. The F-2 subversion carried an engine-mounted cannon firing through the propeller hub together with the fuselage machine guns, so it differed from the Emil with its wing cannons in the layout of the armament as well. It is a classic injection-molded kit for ordinary modeling skills. The Messerschmitt Bf 109F Friedrich was a thoroughly reworked development of the Emil that entered service in 1940 and 1941. The aerodynamic refinements, that is the rounded wingtips, a cantilever tailplane with no external struts, a retractable tailwheel and a smoother engine cowling, gave it higher performance and better flying qualities. The F-2 subversion also differed from the Emil in the arrangement of its weapons: instead of wing cannons it relied on a cannon mounted in the engine and firing through the propeller hub, complemented by the fuselage machine guns. Many pilots consider the Friedrich the most balanced version of the Bf 109 in the air.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with a thin modeling cement for plastic. Paint and accent the cockpit interior before closing the fuselage, and mask the clear canopy while spraying. Apply a primer and the paints with an airbrush, apply the decals after a gloss coat and accent the panel lines with a wash. The Friedrichs carried typical gray camouflage with mottling on the sides of the fuselage; add wear appropriate to front-line service.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
