A raised colored sheet for the cockpit of the Messerschmitt Bf 109K-4 fighter, 1:72 scale. It carries the front panel with its dials, the side consoles and the belts in finished shades. In shape it follows on from the Eduard kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The K-4 version closed the development line of the Bf 109. It was built from the autumn of 1944, powered by a supercharged engine with water-methanol injection, and a 30 mm cannon fired through the propeller shaft. From the outside it is given away by the taller wooden vertical tail and the sliding canopy with its large undivided area, which finally gave the pilot a view. Its service, though, came at a time when experienced pilots were running out faster than aircraft.
A canopy with a large clear area has an awkward quality: it shows absolutely everything. The interior meanwhile carried a uniform dark color, so a model without detail looks like an empty box from inside. A printed layer adds the layout that really was there, and does it in shades matching the real subject.
The belts have the strongest effect. Their light fabric is the only large area that reflects in a dark space, and it therefore leads the eye inside. Around them the white scales on the round instruments and the colored levers on the left stand out. Layered print holds its shape even when the whole assembly is smaller than a little fingernail.
The dimensions match the cockpit of the kit from Eduard; the package does not hold an aircraft model. The external surfaces, engine cowlings and tail section are not covered by the set, whose focus lies in the space under the sliding canopy.
