A large injection-molded plastic kit of the German flying boat Blohm & Voss BV 222 Wiking in 1:72 scale from Revell. Even in 1:72 scale this is a giant model with a span of over 60 cm and a large number of parts. The box holds plastic parts, clear parts for the glazing, decals and illustrated instructions.
The BV 222 Wiking was the largest flying boat to reach operational service in the Second World War. The six-engine giant was originally designed as a long-range transport for Lufthansa and later served for maritime transport and reconnaissance. Only a small number of these aircraft were built, with a span of around 46 meters and a range of over 7000 kilometers.
On a model this large, planning is the key: glue the long fuselage seams in stages and let them set properly, so that no gaps appear. Finish the extensive glazing and the engine nacelles before final assembly. Apply a primer before painting; spray the typical maritime camouflage with an airbrush. For stable display of the model, consider a solid stand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
