About product

Fokker C.X (Pegasus engine) 1:72 (Kovozavody Prostejov, Hi-tech)

An injection-molded plastic kit of the Dutch Fokker C.X reconnaissance biplane in the version with the Bristol Pegasus engine, in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Kovozavody Prostejov. It is a Hi-tech edition, which adds self-adhesive masks for the glazing, 3D-printed parts and new decals to the plastic. The version with the Pegasus radial engine is associated above all with Finnish service.

The real subject

The Fokker C.X was a Dutch biplane reconnaissance and light bomber aircraft of the 1930s. It had a mixed structure, fixed landing gear and a crew of two. Besides the Dutch Air Force it was also used by Finland, where aircraft with the Bristol Pegasus radial engine served through the Winter War and the Continuation War against the Soviet Union, often on ski landing gear. The biplane layout with bracing between the wings was already on the way out when the aircraft appeared, but it proved itself a reliable workhorse.

Building and painting tips

As with any biplane, count on rigging: stretch the bracing and the wires between the wings and to the fuselage only once the flying surfaces have been glued in place; monofilament line or stretched sprue will help. Assemble and paint the cockpit first, then mask the glazing with the masks supplied. Separate the 3D-printed parts carefully from their supports and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement, even out the surface with primer and apply the paint with an airbrush. Finnish schemes typically have a multi-tone upper camouflage and a light underside.

Who the model is for

  • Fans of prewar and wartime biplanes
  • Collectors of the Finnish Air Force and of less usual types
  • Modelers who appreciate masks and 3D-printed parts in a Hi-tech edition
  • More experienced builders who can handle rigging

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
