The Oshkosh M-ATV in the M1240A1 version, 1:72 scale, completed with a set of wheels with an off-road tread. A Galaxy Hobby kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The kit captures the American Oshkosh M-ATV off-road vehicle in its later M1240A1 configuration, and the manufacturer has included a separate set of wheels with a coarse off-road tread. The basis is injection-molded plastic parts, to which it adds a photo-etched fret and a decal sheet. The M1240A1 designation refers to the version with a revised hull floor and a protected gunner's station.
The M-ATV appeared at the end of the first decade of this century as a lighter and more agile relative of the heavy mine-resistant vehicles. It was to replace armored off-road cars wherever it was necessary to get through mountainous, broken country: it has high ground clearance, independent suspension and a floor shaped to deflect a blast wave. The tall wheel with its coarse tread is an inseparable part of its silhouette, and that is exactly why the enclosed wheel set makes good sense.
First try dry how the wheels seat in the forks, and only then glue anything. Paint the chassis and the dampers separately from the hull. Leave the tires dark gray rather than black and dust them lightly with a sand pigment. Attach the photo-etched grilles and brackets with super glue. The glazing in the armored frames is small, so masking fluid suits it.
The box contains unassembled parts without a finish. Obtain tools, paints and glue separately, unless stated otherwise.
