The M5A1 was the last major version of the American Stuart series of light tanks. It had a welded hull with a sloped front, a turret with an extended rear, a 37 millimeter gun and a pair of Cadillac spark-ignition V8s with an automatic transmission. The British army received these machines under American military aid and ran them under a designation of its own, Stuart VI. By the end of the war they were too weak for a tank duel, but with the armored regiments they proved themselves as a fast reconnaissance vehicle meant to look over the road ahead of the main force and withdraw in good time.
This is a finished model in 1:72 scale, assembled and painted at the factory, markings included. It is worked up in the British guise, with the insignia of the 23rd Hussars, which formed part of the 29th Armoured Brigade of the 11th Armoured Division. Nothing is glued, sprayed or added; it is enough to unpack the model and stand it in a display case.
