An injection-molded plastic kit of the American heavy naval helicopter Sikorsky MH-53E Sea Dragon in 1:72 scale from the Italian company Italeri. The model captures the massive machine with its characteristic large side tanks (sponsons) and offers decals for two renderings — the US Navy and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
The MH-53E Sea Dragon is the main American naval helicopter for airborne mine countermeasures and heavy cargo transport. It is derived from the Sikorsky CH-53 family, from which it differs in an added third engine and enlarged side tanks, which give it the power and range needed for towing heavy minesweeping gear. Thanks to the exceptional power of its engines it lifts bulky loads; it serves with special units of the US Navy and also with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
On a helicopter, pay attention to the rotor head and the main rotor — clean assembly and balanced blades ensure the right look. Protect the extensive glazing of the cabin and the cockpit with masks and glue it with a glue for clear parts (one that does not fog), and paint the cabin interior before closing the fuselage. Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with thin liquid cement for plastic; apply a primer before painting. Spray the typical dark naval scheme with an airbrush and bring out the panel lines with a wash. Do not forget the large side tanks and the landing gear mounting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
