The small kit 1:72 Mignet Flying Flea G-ADXS from LACI captures one particular British-registered machine of Henri Mignet's homebuilt design. The parts are printed from resin, so the set belongs in the hands of a more experienced modeler.

This miniature aircraft with a tandem arrangement of flying surfaces has been given the form of a standalone kit in 1:72 scale by LACI. The parts are produced by printing from resin, which on such a small object allows finer detail than could be injected into a mold. The package is tied to the machine with the British registration G-ADXS, that is to one particular example, not to the type in general.
The designer Henri Mignet built his HM.14 at the beginning of the 1930s with the aim of putting flying into the hands of complete laymen. The building instructions were published as a book, the material was wood and fabric, and the power came from small engines often derived from motorcycle units. Hundreds of machines were built in France as well as in Britain and the nickname Pou du Ciel, in English Flying Flea, became a household word. A series of accidents in the mid-1930s was followed by remeasurement in a wind tunnel and restrictions on operation; it is precisely that which made the type a legend still written about today.
First wash the printed parts in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap to remove the uncured resin residue and let them dry thoroughly. Cut the print supports off with a fine-toothed saw, and do the sanding wet and with respiratory protection. The joints are held by super glue, and it pays to prime the surfaces before painting. The fabric covering comes out best under a matte varnish with the ribs lightly picked out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
