An injection-molded plastic kit of the American fighter Republic P-47C-2/5 Thunderbolt in 1:72 scale from a new mold by the Czech manufacturer Kovozavody Prostejov (KP). The model captures the early razorback version with the spine along the fuselage and with a ferry tank under the fuselage. The package combines the plastic with a separate sprue of clear parts and resin (3D printed) accessories; waterslide decals are included. Check the exact package contents and the markings against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was a massive American single-seat fighter of the Second World War, among the largest and heaviest production piston-engined fighters. It was powered by the powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800 radial with a turbocharger, and its armament was eight 12.7 mm machine guns in the wings. The early C-2 and C-5 versions still had the razorback fuselage shape, before the later bubble canopy was introduced. A ferry tank raised the range on long-distance transfers.
This is a short-run kit, so clean the flash off the parts carefully, try the pins dry and keep checking the joints; reckon on some filling. Wash the resin (3D printed) parts and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Glue the glazing with canopy cement. Apply a primer with an airbrush before painting; bring out the natural metal surfaces of the early machines with metallics and complete the panel lines with a fine wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
