Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Italian Piaggio-Pegna P.c.7 racing floatplane in 1:72 scale from AMP. By available accounts the package holds clear and gray sprues, decals and paper instructions. It is an unconventional subject meant for collectors of experimental and racing aircraft of the interwar era.
The P.c.7 was an Italian experimental racing machine designed at the end of the 1920s for the contest for the Schneider Trophy. It stood out for an unusual solution: instead of conventional floats it was to rest on load-bearing elements in the water during the take-off run and then move into fast flight driven by a tractor propeller. The ambitious design ran into technical trouble and the machine never fully showed its potential, yet it remains a fascinating chapter in the history of high-speed aircraft.
Dry-fit the short-run parts and clean the sprue gates off them. Mask the clear parts and glue them carefully. For the Italian racing look, a deep gloss coat and carefully laid decals on a smooth surface work well. The fine struts and load-bearing elements call for gluing that is firm but handled gently.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
