A blue-green metallic Acrysion shade with a metallic sheen, to be laid on with an airbrush.

A combination of blue and green with metal particles gives a cool turquoise surface whose reflections hold a green undertone. Such finishes do not suit military equipment, but they are sought after for motorcycles, concept cars, robots, fantastic machines and accessories for figure sets, where a part is meant to look expensive and technical. It also comes into its own on small things such as helmets, shields or power cells that are meant to catch the eye in the overall impression.
The intensity of the result is largely governed by the base. Over a black base the tone comes out deeper and more mysterious; over a silver one it shines and the metal flakes sparkle more. The decision is made before you reach for the bottle, because spraying another color over a metallic surface without losing the effect is practically impossible.
Mix the cup slowly and thoroughly, so that the particles lift off the bottom but no bubbles form. It is laid on by spraying and thinned with water, though in moderation: an over-thinned metallic runs and creates patches in which the flakes clump together. Several light passes with short pauses are ideal. A finished surface is sensitive to fingerprints, so handle the model with gloves or by the invisible parts, and choose any protective coat gloss rather than flat. Try the paint beforehand on an offcut of the sprue: only on a dry sample will you see how strongly the metal flakes stand out and choose the number of coats and the final treatment of the surface accordingly.
