A saturated red from the Gunze Acrysion acrylic line. A clean sharp tone for warning stripes, markings, car bodies and propeller blades.

A sharp red is a color that cannot be missed. Real hardware uses it for exactly that reason: warning stripes on covers, the tips of propeller blades, fire extinguishers, the marking of hazardous places and the markings of sports machines are meant to be seen at first glance and from a great distance.
Red pigments are among those that cover worse than others. On dark plastic the tone therefore goes brown and on a bare gray casting it loses its sparkle. The answer is a white or light pink base, on which the red lights up in full saturation after just two thin coats. Layering pays off even when the paint is finally sprayed over masking tape.
Water handles the thinning, and Acrysion Thinner brings a thicker residue in the bottle back into shape; after spraying the airbrush is flushed with Acrysion Tool Cleaner. Stirring the contents is especially important with saturated colors, because an imperfectly stirred red makes blotches on a large area.
If the area is meant to be glossy like painted bodywork, a final gloss varnish comes into play. It evens the surface out and at the same time prepares a smooth base under decals, which would silver on a flat red and whose carrier film would stay visible.
