The second dark gray from the Gunze Acrysion acrylic line. A shifted gray tone for telling apart areas that are not meant to look the same.
Responsibility details are not available.
Gray hardly ever occurs on a model in just one form. The superstructure of a ship has a different gray from the deck, an engine cover a different one from a frame, and military gear differs from a fighting vehicle as well. That is precisely why the manufacturer supplies two dark grays side by side and tells them apart by a serial number.
This variant suits everywhere you already have one gray laid down and need a second one so that neighboring areas do not merge. The difference is small enough not to read as artificial, and at the same time big enough for the eye to make out the boundary between parts. A collection built from both tones looks richer than one where a single spray covers everything.
Handling matches the rest of the range. The paint is thinned with water or with the thinner that carries the name Acrysion Thinner, and it is sprayed with an airbrush; once the work is done the chamber and the nozzle are flushed with Acrysion Tool Cleaner. Before every filling of the container the contents are stirred so that settled pigment does not stay at the bottom.
The fine difference between the two grays can be used on a single part as well. Spray the area with the darker variant and then the lighter one only into the middle of the larger panels. The resulting transition imitates the uneven fading that always occurs on real machines sooner than visible damage to the paint.
