KAB-500S guided bomb, 1:48 is a 3D-printed resin replica of the Russian guided bomb with satellite guidance in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds a 3D-printed resin replica of the KAB-500S guided aerial bomb in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for the external stores. The print holds the thin tail surfaces and the smooth nose without an optical window, which is what sets this version apart from the others.
The KAB-500S is a Russian guided aerial bomb in the 500 kilogram weight class with satellite guidance. Unlike the laser and television versions it does not need to see the target or illuminate it, because it aims at given coordinates. It therefore works at night, in rain and in cloud, but only against fixed targets that do not move. The nose is smooth, without an optical window, which is the recognition mark of the whole group of bombs guided this way.
Wash the 3D-printed parts in warm soapy water first, to get rid of any print resin residue. Cut the print supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as you can and sand the marks away with respiratory protection. Resin does not bond with polystyrene cement, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a thin coat of primer before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold well on the smooth print. Assemble and paint the armament separately and glue it to the pylon only once the varnish has dried, so that the fine surfaces do not get rubbed.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
