White under the designation BN01 is a paint for building plastic models and it belongs to the Gunze range of paints. It comes into its own in two ways: as a visible coat on the fuselages of airliners, on ship superstructures, on ambulance and rescue vehicles or on the winter finish of vehicles, and as a base on which the other shades only then come to life.
Yellow, orange and red paints cover poorly and lose their saturation on dark plastic. A layer of white underneath removes that problem: two or three thin coats of the colored shade are then enough instead of five. White is likewise used under silver and pearl coats, where the lightness of the base is decisive.
White is merciless toward a badly prepared surface, because every scratch and every imperfectly sanded joint will show through it as a shadow. Sand the surface carefully, therefore, then wash and degrease it. Stir the paint, and choose the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the range the paint belongs to; the figures are given on the label and in the manufacturer's instructions. Apply several thin coats, as one thick coat easily wrinkles. A pure white area looks sharper on a model than on a real machine, so on large areas it pays to add a tiny amount of gray or beige and to calm the shade down with it.
For builders of airliners, ships and civil vehicles as well as for anyone who needs a reliable light base under colored coats. The thinner, the brushes and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
