Gray under the designation BN02 is a paint for building plastic models and it belongs to the Gunze range of paints. Of all the shades, gray is used up fastest on a modeling bench. It carries whole areas of aircraft as well as ships, it forms a base under coats, it tempers the excessive saturation of other colors and it suits hundreds of small items from instrument panels to landing gear bays.
A continuous gray area shows the shape of a machine better than any other color, because it does not shout and lets the shadows come through. That is exactly why gray appears so often on models of aircraft and warships. At the same time it holds that models are looked at from a shorter distance than real machines, so it pays to enliven extensive gray areas with tiny variations of tone from panel to panel.
Stir the paint properly before use, otherwise the shade will differ from coat to coat. Choose the thinner, the cleaner and the thinning ratio according to the range the paint belongs to; the figures are given on the label and in the manufacturer's instructions. Gray goes well with white as well as black, so you can easily mix a whole scale from light to dark out of it while keeping a uniform tone. Apply several thin coats rather than one thick one, so that the engraving stays legible.
For builders of aircraft, ships and military vehicles as well as for modelers who mix shades of their own and need a reliable neutral foundation. The thinner, the brushes and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
