Red under the designation BN03 is a paint for building plastic models. It belongs to the Gunze range of paints, that is among the products with which a finished build is completed. Red is one of the shades that immediately draw the eye on a model, which is why it pays to handle it with consideration.
Most often on the bodywork of racing and sports cars, where it forms the whole area. Then on fire and rescue vehicles, on warning features, on the markings and numbers of aircraft, on the inner faces of covers that are meant to draw attention to a dangerous place, and on small items such as fire extinguishers, seat belt webbing or lights.
Red pigments cover poorly, much like yellow ones, so applied straight onto dark plastic they will get you closer to brick than to a saturated red. Apply a light base coat first and the red over it in several thin coats. Always stir the paint thoroughly, because the pigment settles to the bottom. Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the range the paint belongs to; the figures are given on the label and in the manufacturer's instructions. A large red area on a small model usually looks lighter and more garish than on a real machine, so in larger scales it pays to darken the shade slightly. Apply masking tape only onto a perfectly dry coat.
For builders of car models and of fire and rescue vehicles as well as for anyone adding a saturated red for details to their palette. The thinner, the brushes and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
