About product

The color

A paint from the C range in the Mr.Color line, with the manufacturer's part number C384. Its name identifies it as the cockpit shade of aircraft from the manufacturer Kawanishi, the Japanese aircraft works which built machines for the naval air service. The finish is semi-gloss, which suits an interior: the surface is neither mirror-like nor completely flat, so shading and drybrushing stand out on it.

How to apply the paint

Stir the contents of the bottle thoroughly first, because the pigment settles at the bottom. An interior is painted before the fuselage is glued, while the cockpit walls are still accessible; once it is assembled no brush will reach them. Apply the paint in thin coats so that the engraving and the raised detail of the instruments and stiffeners stay legible. The paint is thinned with the thinner intended for the Mr.Color range, not with water, and the same thinner cleans the brush and the airbrush right after work.

Tips for finishing an interior

Darker shading, which brings out the corners and engraving, lies well over dried paint, as does drybrushing in a lighter tone, which pulls the edges out. Finish the instrument panel and the small controls with a brush at the very end. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, because paint flakes off a greasy surface. Before you glue the fuselage, try joining the two halves dry and look at what will finally be visible of the interior through the canopy; there is no point in finishing off the small things hidden deep inside.

Terms of supply

The package contains the paint only. Thinner, brushes, an airbrush and the model are not included, unless stated otherwise. Work in a well ventilated room and store the paint carefully closed and out of the reach of children.
