CL105 Lilac Base Color Gloss

The color

Lilac is a light purple drawn toward pink and softened with white, that is the tone of a lilac blossom. Against a saturated purple it looks faded and cooler and on a small area it is easily lost, but it serves all the better where purple is only to be suggested. Its name lists it as a base shade with a gloss surface, that is as a paint meant for the lower covered layer, over which further tones only then come. The paint belongs to the CL range of the brand Gunze Mr.Color and carries the designation CL105.

Where it is useful

On the hair and clothing of figures, on the colored covers and panels of robots and science fiction machinery, on the accessories of collector's scenes and everywhere a cool pastel tone is to lighten an otherwise dark build. It can also be used as a base under more saturated purple glazes, which over a light base come out more brilliant than over gray. Light pastel shades cover worse than they look, so it pays to prepare a white base under them.

How to apply the paint

• Stir the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles at the bottom.
• Thin it with the thinner of the same range and spray thin coats, so that the engraving is not flooded.
• On a dark base reckon with a white base coat, otherwise the shade will go gray.
• The instructions on the packaging give the procedure for particular use within the manufacturer's system.
• Let the paint dry through before masking, as a fresh film peels off with the tape.
