Clear Orange is a transparent orange paint from the Gunze Hobby Color range, listed under the code H092. The qualifier in the name states the gloss surface after drying. A transparent paint does not cover but tints: what is underneath stays visible and only changes its shade. That is exactly why it is worked with differently from opaque shades, and the result depends mainly on what lies under it on the model.
Most often it is used on clear parts, that is, on navigation and tail lights, beacon covers and reflectors. Applied over a silver or chrome base it gives the warm metallic cast that exhausts and heat-stained metal sheet tend to have. In a larger number of thin coats it serves for the color glazing of a paint finish, where a metallic base is gradually overlaid into a saturated shade and a deep gloss remains.
Work in thin coats and let each one dry, because the saturation of the color grows with the number of coats and one thick coat easily pools. The base must be smooth and clean, every unevenness under a transparent paint will stand out. Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions for this range, a foreign thinner can curdle the paint. Mix the pot properly before use, otherwise the settled pigment will stay at the bottom and the shade will be weaker. Touch clear parts through a cloth while working, because fingerprints are clearly visible under a transparent coat. Clean the tools right after work.
The paint itself is supplied in a pot. Thinner, brushes and a model are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
