This six is the sharpest of the whole family. The transitions lead from orange to violet, from electric blue to saturated violet, from green to blue-violet, from bright gold to brown, from old gold to gray-violet and from red to gold. While fine pearlescent tones come across discreetly, here the point is an effect that is meant to be seen across the whole table.
It stands out most on smooth continuous areas. The fuselage of a fantasy glider, the bodywork of a racing car, the wings of a large insect or the smooth armor of a figure are exactly the places where the eye catches the whole range of the transition during movement. On a broken-up surface full of rivets and edges, by contrast, the tone breaks over short stretches and the result comes close to an ordinary metallic.
Proceed in very thin coats and let yourself be led by the way the shade gradually closes. An excessively heavy coat kills the transition, because the light stops reflecting from the ground. Work at lower pressure and with the airbrush closer to the surface, so that the particles are not lost by dispersion. The volume of each bottle is seventeen milliliters, and there are six of them in the package.
If you want to photograph the result, stand the model in soft side light and turn it slowly, otherwise the camera captures only one of the two tones. The package contains paints only.
A whole model in one such tone tends to be tiring to look at. It is more effective to reserve the shift for one feature, say a tank, a shield or a stripe across the hood, and to leave the rest in a quiet matte color. The contrast then draws the effect out far more than covering everything does.
