An AK Interactive modeling paint from the Real Colors range in the shade RAF Middle Stone, the sand brown of British desert camouflage. A 17 ml bottle.
Responsibility details are not available.
Middle Stone is a sand brown shade with which the Royal Air Force solved the camouflage of its machines over the desert. On the upper surfaces it formed a pair with a darker brown, while the underside carried a light blue. The resulting scheme was created for service in North Africa and the Middle East, where the usual European green and brown did not work over pale ground.
The shade belongs on the upper surfaces of British aircraft in the desert scheme and serves just as well on vehicles and equipment in a sandy setting. It comes into its own wherever a muted sand tone without a shift toward yellow or ocher is needed. The complement from the same range is the dark brown for the other half of the camouflage and the blue shade for the undersides.
The bottle has to be stirred thoroughly before use, because the pigment settles to the bottom. The paint is applied in several thin coats on a degreased and dust-free surface, ideally over a primer that evens out the absorbency of the plastic, the filler and the accessories. Thinning, spraying pressure and tool cleaning follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging; use the thinner recommended for this range. Desert shades take pronounced fading well, so a little lighter tone can be added to the further coats and sprayed only into the middle of the larger areas.
The paint alone is supplied, in a bottle with a volume of 17 ml. Thinner, primer, final varnish and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
