A water-thinnable acrylic paint in a blue-gray shade, a 10 ml bottle.
Responsibility details are not available.
A water-thinnable acrylic paint from the Japanese range intended for building plastic models. The blue-gray shade is among the most used tones of all: it covers the finishes of warship decks and superstructures, the undersides of aircraft and machinery where a pure blue would look too loud. A volume of 10 ml lasts a long time in modeling practice, because the paint is applied in thin coats. By adding white or a light gray you can easily mix a whole scale of tones from one bottle to grade surfaces according to how the light falls.
The pigment settles in the bottle, so stir it properly before every use, ideally with a stainless steel ball. For spraying the paint is thinned to the consistency of milk, and for a brush it stays thicker. Thinning with water works, but with the thinner recommended for this range the resulting surface tends to be smoother and holds better on an edge. A dried coat benefits from a few hours of rest before it will take masking tape. An even coat on a large area comes out better with more thinning and several passes than with a single heavy application.
On smooth plastic acrylic holds better over a thin primer, especially on a large area that will be handled further. It pays to mix enough for the whole model at once, because a shade mixed later may not match. Brushes need only be washed out with water right after work; once dry it cannot be done without a solvent. Try the depth of the tone beforehand on a piece of scrap plastic.
