R-98R guided missile, 1:48 is a 3D-printed resin replica of the Soviet radar-guided air-to-air missile in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds a 3D-printed resin replica of the Soviet R-98R air-to-air guided missile in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for the external stores. The print keeps the sharp edges of the fins and the fine detail of the seeker head, which an injection mold cannot manage in this scale.
The R-98R belongs to the R-98 family, known in the West as the AA-3 Anab. It is a large missile with semi-active radar homing, intended for air defense interceptors. It was carried by the Sukhoi Su-15 and the Yakovlev Yak-28P, usually in a pair with the infrared R-98T version, so that the pilot had two different methods of guidance against a target. The family came from the development of the earlier K-8 missile.
Wash the 3D-printed parts in warm soapy water first, to get rid of any print resin residue. Cut the print supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as you can and sand the marks away with respiratory protection. Resin does not bond with polystyrene cement, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a thin coat of primer before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold well on the smooth print. Assemble and paint the armament separately and glue it to the pylon only once the varnish has dried, so that the fine surfaces do not get rubbed.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
