Launchers for the Su-34 1:32 from Temp Models

The set contains 3D printed resin launchers and pylons on which the Su-34 carries guided weapons, in 1:32 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft but an accessory for the load. The print holds the sharp edges of the beams, the attachment fittings and the small connectors, which a mold inevitably rounds off.

The real subject

The Su-34 is a tactical bomber with twelve attachment points, on which it carries bombs, air-to-ground guided missiles and defensive air-to-air missiles. The arrangement of pylons therefore differs from the purely fighter machines of the Su-27 family: pylons for the heavier weapons predominate, while the rail launchers serve for defense. In photographs from combat service the load tends to be full and it determines the silhouette of the aircraft. For a model it is the detail that holds the whole armament in the right position.

Building and painting tips

First wash the 3D printed parts in warm water with a little dish soap, so that they are rid of the residue of printing resin. Cut the supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as possible and sand the marks down with your airways protected. Resin does not bond with cement for polystyrene, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Lay a thin coat of primer on before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly on a smooth print. Assemble and paint the weapons separately and glue them onto the pylon only once the varnish has dried, so that the fine surfaces are not rubbed.
