A resin R-33 air-to-air guided missile in 1:72 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. The resin print manages the long body and the thin lifting surfaces in one piece. It is not an aircraft model but a separate store to be hung under a finished model, typically under the fuselage of an interceptor.
The R-33 is a Soviet long-range missile developed as the main armament of the MiG-31 interceptor. The aircraft carries it on semi-recessed mounts under the fuselage, which cuts drag and allows high-speed flight even with a full load. The missile was intended against targets flying high and fast, cruise missiles among them, and together with the aircraft's powerful radar it made up a system able to cover a broad belt of airspace.
Release the long missile body from the supports on a flat work mat so that it does not bow. Sand the marks down with fine paper and wet sand, with respiratory protection. Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting. If you are building the missile on a semi-recessed mount, dry-fit its seating before you glue anything.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
