A resin set of landing gear wheels for a model of the MiG-29 in the SMT version in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. Against the basic machine the upgraded version has a higher take-off weight, and the landing gear matches that. The set is printed in resin, so it carries the tread pattern and the detail of the hub without a parting line. It is not a kit but replacement parts.
The MiG-29 SMT is the upgraded version with a markedly larger fuel load, which you can recognize by the massive dorsal hump behind the cockpit. Along with new avionics and the ability to carry a wider range of armament, the weight of the machine also went up, so the landing gear received a more robust arrangement. For a modeler that means the wheels from the basic version will not fit the SMT exactly and are worth replacing.
Release the parts from the supports with a scalpel and level the mating spot, so that the wheel does not stand at an angle. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Spray the tire a dark gray and the hub separately, following the real thing. Use a circular mask on the transition. A thin layer of dust on the lower part of the tread gives the impression of load.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
