Kevlar (type 1) Medium Size is a sheet of waterslide decals with the texture of Kevlar weave from Decalcas - for the bodywork and interiors of competition cars.

A sheet of waterslide decals with the texture of Kevlar weave in the type 1 finish and in the Medium pattern size. It is not a kit or a sticker: the decals are applied onto a finished varnished surface and replace the laborious spraying or drawing of a weave. The maker Decalcas lists the sheet for the scales 1:24, 1:20 and 1:12.
Kevlar and carbon weave is everywhere on competition and circuit cars: engine covers, floors, diffusers, seats, door panels, small wings. Flat surfaces come out more faithfully with a decal than with paint, because the pattern holds the same density over the whole area. There are further finishes of the pattern in the range - type 3, type 5 and type 6 - and beside them textured patterns in the coarsenesses Soft, Very Soft, Medium and Coarse. So compare both the finish and the coarseness with a photograph of the car you are building; the sets do not substitute for one another.
A decal holds only on a gloss base - matte varnish will betray it with silvering. Trace the area in advance and cut the sheet into smaller pieces, as a whole part in one go will not usually work out. A softener will manage the folding of edges and radii, supplemented on deeper shapes with warm water and dabbing with a cotton swab. Finally coat it with clear varnish, so that the edge of the decal disappears.
This is a set of decals, not a kit. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
