A clear covering varnish with a satin sheen, that is with a surface between matte and gloss. It is applied over finished paintwork, evens out its sheen and protects it during further work. The satin level of sheen tends to be the most usable on finished models: a matte surface looks too dry on new and well-kept machines, while full gloss looks like a toy, whereas satin keeps the result in the middle and shows the shape nicely. The varnish is on a water base.
As a final coat on a finished model, evening out the differing sheen of the paints, the decals and the dirt. As an intermediate coat sealing the shades already applied before glazes and pigments go on them, so that these can be corrected without damaging the paintwork underneath. And as protection for decals, whose glossy edge disappears under the varnish. It comes into play on vehicles, on cars and on figures and scenery accessories.
Shake the container thoroughly: the matting agent settles at the bottom and without stirring the sheen comes out uneven. Apply the varnish in thin coats on a clean, degreased and dust-free surface, better twice thinly than once thickly. Let the paintwork under the varnish dry thoroughly and try the coat first on an offcut or on a hidden area. The tools wash in water. The recommended thinning and the drying time are given by the manufacturer on the packaging.
The package contains the varnish alone. Paints, thinner, brushes and a model are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
