Medium Gunship Gray is an opaque acrylic from the Vallejo Model Air range. It is a medium dark neutral gray from the aviation part of the palette, that is, a shade for extensive single-color and two-tone gray areas. The paint has a water-thinnable binder, is thinned with the acrylic thinner of the same brand and comes in a 17 ml dropper bottle. The Model Air range is deliberately thinner than brush acrylics, because it is built to pass through an airbrush nozzle.
Gray areas are usually large and will show every unevenness in the spray without mercy, so with this paint it pays to spend a moment on the setup. A proven starting point is lower pressure, roughly at the value where the paint no longer forms cobwebs, and a nozzle distance of about the width of your palm. Closer and at lower pressure you spray narrow transitions and shading; farther away and at higher pressure, even areas. If the paint grains on the surface, the pressure is too high or the nozzle is too far away and the paint is drying in flight; if it pools, you are too close or letting too much paint through. For fine transitions in two-color camouflage, thin the paint slightly and lay it on in several light passes.
