A metallic blue from the Gunze Mr.Color line, the manufacturer part number C076. A shade with a metallic sheen for car bodies, tanks and decorative surfaces.
Responsibility details are not available.
Metallic blue combines a deep color tone with fine metallic particles that lie flat in the coat and reflect light. The result therefore changes with the viewing angle: one moment the surface looks deep blue, turn it and it lights up. Because of those particles a metallic shade behaves differently from an opaque paint and forgives fewer mistakes, but in exchange it can give a model a surface that an ordinary blue will never deliver.
It comes into its own on car bodies and motorcycle tanks, on decorative stripes, on vehicle accessories and on machines from the world of science fiction. It also serves modelers well who build a showroom finish of a car, where the paint is meant to look freshly laid on and free of any trace of service.
Stir the paint longer than you would an ordinary shade, as the metallic particles settle to the bottom and without stirring the surface comes out uneven. Lay it on a smooth and evenly dark base, since every scratch and flaw under a metallic coat will stand out. Work in thin coats laid in the same direction and let them flash off. Choose the thinner intended for this line and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer instructions on the packaging. Protect the finished surface with a gloss coat before you start masking and further work, because a metallic surface is easily rubbed through.
The paint alone is supplied, in the packaging stated by the manufacturer. The thinner, gloss coat, brushes and airbrush are not included, unless stated otherwise.
