Responsibility details are not available.
This shade belongs to the oldest and most used part of the Mr. Color range. It is a pure red without a shift toward orange or toward wine, that is exactly the tone modelers look for on national markings, warning stripes, the marking areas of propeller blades, fire service vehicles, racing cars or Japanese roundels.
Although this range is commonly grouped with acrylic paints, technically it is a cellulose lacquer thinned with an organic thinner. That is exactly why it dries very fast, holds on smooth polystyrene and on etched parts without a separate base and, once cured, creates a hard film that will take masking tape and further coats of varnish. The manufacturer intends it for spraying with an airbrush and does not recommend brushing it on; anyone who still wants to work with a brush should mix in roughly a quarter of the volume of the Mr. Retarder Mild retarder.
It is thinned with Mr. Color Thinner or with its self-leveling Leveling version, usually at a ratio between 1:1 and 2:1 according to the thickness. Red pigments have the weakest covering power of all shades, so it pays to lay a white or light gray base under them. On dark plastic the red would look brown and many coats would be needed, which would blind the engraving of the panel lines. Before work the bottle has to be stirred thoroughly, because the pigment settles to the bottom. It pays to wipe the neck of the bottle after every use; otherwise dried paint residue glues the cap on and the contents risk spilling over the bench the next time it is opened.
