Thinner with a retarder for the Mr. Color lacquer line, 110 ml. It lengthens the drying time, the paint flows out better and the surface stays smoother.

The difference from an ordinary solvent lies in the speed of evaporation. This variant contains a component that slows the evaporation, so the droplets that land have time to join up and flow into a single level before they set. The result is a noticeably less grainy surface and suppressed orange peel.
It shows most on gloss surfaces, that is on the bodies of car models, on cowlings and everywhere a surface is going to be polished. It also helps when spraying in a warm and dry environment, where an ordinary solvent dries before the paint settles and the result is a dry, dusty coat.
It is also worth noting that it reduces the risk of the nozzle clogging during long continuous spraying. The disadvantage is the longer period for which the layer stays sensitive to touch and to masking. On thin coats, however, the wait is only a little longer than usual.
It is used the same way as an ordinary solvent, that is by adding it directly to the paint according to the thinness required. Some modelers combine both variants and raise the proportion of the retarder only for the final covering passes.
For everyday flushing of the airbrush between shades it is more sensible to reach for the ordinary solvent and to keep this variant for the spraying itself, because consumption during cleaning is several times higher than consumption for thinning. It also proves worthwhile to mix a smaller amount directly in a cup and to strain the paint beforehand through a fine sieve, so that dried particles from the rim of the bottle do not get into the nozzle.
