Pale Clear Orange

The color

Pale Clear Orange is a translucent pale orange from the Gunze Mr.Color range. The word clear in the name says that the paint is not opaque: it lets light through and changes the color of what lies beneath it. The resulting tone is therefore decided not only by the shade in the bottle but also by the base and the number of coats. On a light base it comes out gently honey-colored, on a silver one it takes on a metallic sheen with depth.

Where you will use it

Translucent oranges are used mainly on glazed and glossy features: position and turn lights on vehicles and aircraft, orange beacon covers, instrument glasses. The second large area is toning. Over a polished metal base it creates the effect of colored lacquer, over a base shade the surface can be warmed unobtrusively, and on exhaust areas it serves to suggest the color spectrum left by heat. The pale version is rewarding for this work, because it can be built up in fine steps.

How to work with the paint

• the base must be smooth and glossy, as a translucent paint emphasizes every irregularity
• apply it thinly and repeatedly, the shade is built up in layers
• shake the bottle thoroughly before use
• choose the thinner and the ratio as the manufacturer instructs, that is the thinner intended for the Mr.Color range
• make your test on an offcut with the same base as the one on the model

Terms of supply

The paint in the shade given is supplied on its own. The thinner, the primer, a brush and a model are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
