This item is a detail accessory, a set of landing gear wheels for models of the Heinkel He 162 Salamander in the A-1 and B versions in 1:32 scale. It is not an airplane model and not a kit: the package holds no fuselage, wings or cockpit, only replacement wheels. The accessory replaces the wheels from the original kit, which usually lack the fine tread of the tire, sharp hub relief and a readable transition between tire and rim.

The real subject

The Heinkel He 162, nicknamed the Salamander or the Volksjäger, was a German single-engined jet fighter from the very end of the Second World War. It was notable for a turbojet mounted on top of the fuselage spine, twin rudders and wooden parts of the structure. It came about in an extremely short time as a cheap fighter that could be mass-produced, and it reached combat service only to a limited extent.

Use

• Replacing the wheels of the main (and where applicable the nose) landing gear on a He 162 model in 1:32 scale.
• Separate the parts from the print supports or casting blocks with a sharp scalpel and clean the surfaces up with fine abrasive paper.
• Wash them in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent before painting, so that the paint and primer hold well.
• They are glued with cyanoacrylate or epoxy, because cement for plastic does not work here.
• Painting: the tire in dark gray (not pure black), the hub according to the subject, the tread picked out with a drybrush and dust pigments.

For modelers who build the Heinkel He 162 Salamander in the large 1:32 scale and want the model to stand on realistic wheels with readable detail. At a large scale the wheels are very much in view and swapping in a detail set is among the simplest and most visible improvements.

It is an add-on set, not a kit. The base model, paints and glue are not included in the package. Protect your airways when sanding the parts and work in a well ventilated space.
