Landing flaps for the Nord 262 in 1:72 scale, intended for Mach2 kits. They make it possible to build the wing with the mechanisms lowered.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Nord 262 is a French twin-engined turboprop airliner of the 1960s. It was created for short routes and for operation from airfields where larger machines had no business: the high-wing layout keeps the wing and the propellers out of reach of the debris on the runway, and a pressurized cabin at the same time allowed it to fly higher than the previous generation. It flew with European and overseas carriers and found a use in military service as well, where it carried people and cargo and served for training. The silhouette with its high wing, slim fuselage and long nacelles is unmistakable.
Replacement landing flaps in 1:72 scale for Mach2 kits, which allow the wing to be built in the landing configuration. On a high-wing aircraft the underside of the wing is always in view, because the model is looked at from below and from the side, so lowered mechanisms pay off here more than on low-wing aircraft.
Mark out and scribe the opening in the wing beforehand, and only then cut and level the edge with abrasive paper on a flat base. The parts are not polystyrene, so the joints are held by super glue. Cut excess material off a little away from the part, sand the remainder down and wash and degrease everything before painting. Measure the amount of lowering equally on both sides and check it by eye from behind. The inner surfaces of the flaps tend to be light and quickly get dirty from exhaust gases and from service, which is a rewarding opportunity for a fine wash.
For modelers of airliners in 1:72 scale who want to get more than the basic shape out of a kit. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
