About product

The real subject

The Handley Page HP137 Jetstream is a small twin-engined turboprop aircraft from the end of the 1960s. It was created for short routes and for business passengers who wanted a pressurized cabin and the comfort of a large airliner in a substantially smaller machine. Its characteristic silhouette comes from the slim fuselage with its extended nose, the tall tail surface and the long engine nacelles. It was the last design of its own from the famous British factory; the company no longer managed to make use of it, but the aircraft itself settled in on regional routes for decades.

What the set offers

Replacement landing flaps in 1:72 scale for Airfix kits, which allow the wing to be built in the landing configuration. The difference is visible at once: instead of a smooth lower surface of the wing, exposed space, hinges and edges appear, that is details that keep a model interesting even without a scene.

  • Replacement landing flaps in 1:72 scale
  • Intended for Handley Page HP137 Jetstream kits from Airfix
  • Makes it possible to build the wing in the landing configuration
  • Exposes space and edges that are hidden in the retracted state

Building and painting tips

Before you start cutting, think the procedure through: scribe the outline with a scriber, add depth over several passes and level the edge only with abrasive paper on a flat base. The parts are not polystyrene, so the joints are held by super glue. Cut excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder down, and wash and degrease everything before painting. The flaps are easier to paint separately, while they are accessible from all sides, and they are seated into the wing only when finished. Measure the angle of lowering equally on both sides, as asymmetry is the most conspicuous fault on a model seen from a distance.

Who it is for

For builders of airliners and business aircraft in 1:72 scale who want to get more than the basic shape out of a kit. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

For Handley Page HP137 Jetstream kits from Airfix in 1:72 scale, according to the name. On another kit the parts have to be dry fitted.

The space in the wing, the hinges and the edges that are hidden in the retracted state are exposed. The model thereby gains depth even without a diorama scene.

Scribe the outline with a scriber and add depth over several passes. Level the edge with abrasive paper on a flat base, not with a blade.

Best separately, while they are accessible from all sides, and seat them into the wing only when finished. Wash and degrease them before painting.
