A medium cold green, Snake Green. An Xpress Color acrylic paint that colors an area and all its recesses in a single stroke.
Responsibility details are not available.
This balanced, slightly cold shade lies in the middle of the green part of the palette. It is neither poisonously bright nor muddy, so it suits places where green is to look believable: reptile scales, frog skin, the foliage of bushes, canvas cloaks, shelter quarters and ships' sails. On a figure with pronounced texture it creates the difference between a raised area and a shadow all by itself.
When you want to deepen the green further with an oil or enamel wash, the composition matters. The thinners of such washes are able to swell a thin acrylic layer, and wiping with a cotton swab then takes off not only the excess wash but the paint underneath as well. The safe procedure is simple: varnish first, the wash once that has cured, a matte coat at the end. The layer of varnish works as a shield over which the excess wash is wiped away without risk.
The name of the shade is no accident. Greens of this type are the cover of grass snakes and tree snakes in nature, whose color merges with foliage, and it is exactly that mimicry that makes a figure credible. The same logic holds for camouflaged tarpaulins and nets: green is not meant to be bright but inconspicuous.
Feel free to touch in eyes, buckles or straps straight onto the green, but with a covering paint and a dry, rather stiff brush. Watery strokes would needlessly run the surrounding shade.
Store the paint closed and dry. Any remainder mixed on a palette dries quickly, so mix smaller amounts and mix them again if need be.
