Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a model or an accessory set but a specialist publication. The publisher is the Polish house Kagero, which has long concentrated on aviation and military monographs meant for historians and modelers alike. The book is devoted to the Italian Fiat G.55 Centauro fighter.
The Fiat G.55 Centauro belonged to the group of Italian fighters of the so-called fifth series, which came about around the German Daimler-Benz DB 605 inverted V12 engine. Italy built it under license, and only it gave Italian aircraft performance comparable to the German and Allied types of the day. The G.55 first flew in 1942 and against the earlier Italian fighters it meant a fundamental step forward: it had a stronger structure, heavier armament and better behavior at altitude. It was built in series only in limited numbers and was committed to combat above all by the Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana in the closing phase of the war over northern Italy. A German comparative trial against domestic fighters turned out exceptionally favorably for the Centauro, and yet the type never got the chance to show itself on a mass scale.
The title covers exactly this aircraft: its development, its technical shape and its use. It is material that will be appreciated both by a reader interested in Italian aviation of the Second World War and by a modeler looking for references on a type on which little connected information is available.
