The Tamiya Fine Drill Bit is a fine drill bit 0.3 mm in diameter from the Japanese firm Tamiya. It serves to drill very small holes in plastic, resin and soft materials while finishing a model. It is a modeling tool (an aid), not a kit, because nothing is built from it.
A drill bit of this diameter is very fragile, because it is as thin as a hair and breaks easily. Drill slowly, perpendicular to the surface and with practically no pressure; the bit should cut the material away by itself. The safest way is to drill by hand in a pin vise, not in an electric drill at high speed, because side play and the speed will break the bit. Mark the spot in advance with a point or a needle, so that the bit does not slip, and keep pulling it out while drilling so that the swarf clears.
For modelers who super-detail: aircraft, military, ship and car modelers alike. The 0.3 mm diameter is the finest category and suits above all small scales and fine details, where a larger bit would already open the hole up too far.
Safety: the bit is sharp and very thin, it breaks easily and a fragment can fly off, so protect your eyes, especially when working with a drill. Do not drill toward your other hand and secure the material. Keep out of the reach of children. The bit holder, glues and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
