Coat the armature of a tree or an area of terrain with thinned PVA or scenic glue, apply the material or dip the armature into it and let it dry. Tap the excess off and return it to your supply. Build volume in layers with drying in between. The best result comes from using precisely this darker shade as the base, over which lighter tones are added only in a small quantity in the places the sun reaches. Fix the finished growth with a fine misting of thinned glue through a sprayer, so that it does not shed dust and withstands handling.
