Fine foliage, medium green from Woodland Scenics is a finely textured scenic material for modeling foliage. It suits small bushes, the crowns of trees and growth in smaller scales.

The fine variant of scenic foliage differs from the coarse one in the size of the individual particles. A finer structure means a smoother, more compact surface of foliage that does not look grainy even up close. That comes in useful everywhere the greenery is near the viewer's eye or where the model is in a smaller scale and coarse granulate would look like a tuft of hay on it instead of the crown of a tree. The medium green shade matches foliage in the full season and combines well with lighter and darker tones in layers.
Coat the armature of a bush or a tree with thinned PVA or scenic glue and apply the material to it, or dip the armature into it. Tap the excess off once dry and keep it for further use. Build volume by layering: let it dry, coat it with glue again and add another layer. A proven technique is to apply fine foliage as the top layer over a coarser base, because the growth then has both depth and a smooth surface. Finally, fix the whole with a light misting of thinned glue through a sprayer.
