The resin wheel set Reskit 1:72 McDonnell F-101A and F-101C Voodoo replaces the plastic landing gear wheels with more accurate castings and a faithful tire pattern.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory for a kit. The set holds resin castings of the main and nose landing gear wheels that replace the plastic parts. Cast resin holds fine detail that an injection mold cannot manage at this scale, so the tread pattern, the lettering on the tire and the shape of the hub all stand out on the finished model. The wheels are also very visible on a model, which is why replacing them shows at once.
The McDonnell F-101 Voodoo was an American twin-engine supersonic aircraft of the 1950s. The single-seat F-101A was built as a fighter-bomber for tactical aviation, and the F-101C was a structurally strengthened variant meant for flight at low altitude. Both machines shared the characteristic high-set tailplane and the pair of afterburning engines in the rear fuselage.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with a detergent so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the casting blocks off with a modeling saw, level the cut with abrasive paper and protect your airways when sanding resin. Cement for plastic does not work on resin, so use super glue. Apply a primer before spraying, otherwise paint holds badly on smooth resin. The tires look better in a dark gray shade with a light dusty tone added around the circumference.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit. It is supplied unpainted, and glue, paints and the kit itself are not included in the package.
