A finished scenic area, not a raw material. The growth is made up in advance on a flexible backing measuring roughly 18 x 28 centimeters, so the most laborious and least rewarding part of building terrain falls away: applying static grass in layers, planting individual tufts and waiting for the binder to dry. The spring form means a fresh, deeply green and not yet overgrown undergrowth of the kind you see in a wood from April to the beginning of summer.
The base under the growth must be flat and clean, otherwise the area will not touch down anywhere and will lift. Lay the foliage on dry, trace the shape and cut it out with sharp scissors; never cut a straight line, always run the edge irregularly so that the transition into the rest of the terrain is invisible. It is glued with PVA glue applied to the base, not to the growth; then weigh the area down with books over a soft pad until the glue has dried. Pack out unevenness in the terrain with pieces of foam material before gluing, as the foliage is flexible and will follow gentle undulations.
So that the result does not look like a carpet, it pays to work into the area. Tread paths into the growth with your fingers or a blunt tool, and in a few places pull out small bald patches and expose the base, which you then paint as earth. Disguise the transition to the surrounding terrain with scattered leaves, tiny twigs and fine dust. Leave open space around tree trunks, as undergrowth is always thinner beneath the canopy. Finally you can tie the whole area together very gently with a light overspray of a muted shade from a greater distance.
This is a finished scenic growth. Glue, a base, trees and figures are not included in the package.
