An injection-molded plastic kit of the American battleship USS New Jersey (BB-62) of the Iowa class in 1:350 scale from the manufacturer Tamiya. In this large scale it makes an imposing model roughly 77 cm long. The package also holds a set of photo-etched parts that allow a more faithful rendering of the radars, the antennas and the fine items of the superstructure. The hull can be built as a whole on the stand supplied or in a waterline version. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
USS New Jersey was the second battleship of the Iowa class, completed during the Second World War. The main armament consisted of 406 mm guns in three triple turrets. The ship was marked out by an exceptionally long career across several conflicts and was reactivated and modernized several times. The model captures her later, modernized form of the 1980s, when she also carried guided missiles and contemporary radar equipment.
Join the plastic parts with a thin cement for plastic; the photo-etched items are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) and are best worked once the base color has been laid on. Spray the extensive areas of the hull and the deck with an airbrush over a primer so that the coat is even; shades of naval gray suit modern American finishes. The detail is brought out by a dark wash flowing into the recesses and by fine dry brushing of the edges of the superstructure and the guns. The gun turrets and the masts with their radars deserve careful assembly, because they are the most conspicuous to the eye.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
